ZOOCUM BOTANICAL GARDEN

The idea of development of Zoo-Cum-Botanical Garden (ZCBG) was incorporated in the Master Plan of Islamabad in 1968. It is the largest Z00Cum Botanical Garden of Pakistan. The altitude of the area varies between 530 and 800m with latitude 33-5 and longitude 30-6 and 73-8 east. A land in Banni Galla measuring 725 acres in the four mouzas (Mohra Noor, Phulgran, Atthal and Mallot) of Islamabad was allocated to Zoological Survey of Pakistan, in 1989 under an agreement and physical possession was given to Zoological Survey of Pakistan by Capital Development Authority. In 2002 under the Directive from Chief Executive Secretariat proper demarcation process for the said land was initiated. One hundred and sixty boundary pillars were erected around 725 acres of land by Survey of Pakistan.
